The mother of big battles is back with a bang, India has again defeated Pakistan their arch-rivals on 14th Oct 2023 in the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This was the 8th time India and Pakistan were facing each other in the ODI World Cup, in which India was victorious on all 7 occasions and now the 8th attempt as well. This time India’s Captain Rohit Sharma has extended his lead from 7-0 to 8-0, whereas Pakistan Captain Babar Azam and his team has again failed to beat India in 50 over world cup match.
And Rohit has done it again, they have chased the 191 target in the 31st over.
Let us see the results of the previous matches between these 2 countries in the past.
1st ODI Match was played in the 1992 World Cup, where India Defeated Pakistan by 43 runs, the match was played in Sydney, Australia. But, despite the defeat Pakistan clinched the maiden World Cup by defeating England in the final.
2nd ODI was played in the 1996 World Cup, where again India defeated Pakistan by 39 runs, the match was played in Bengaluru, India. The match was famous for the verbal fight between Aamir Sohail and Venkatesh Prasad.
3rd match was played in the 1999 World Cup, where India defeated Pakistan by 47 runs, the match was played in Manchester, England. Venkatesh Prasad was the highlight of the match as bowled superbly.
4th match was played in the 2003 World Cup, where India defeated Pakistan by 6 wickets, the match was played in Centurion, South Africa. Sachin Tendulkar played one of the best One-day innings of 98, though he missed out on his century but his knock hammered all Pakistani bowlers like Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Shoaib Akthar and Abdul Razzak and Saqlain Mushtaq.
5th match was played in the 2011 World Cup, where India defeated Pakistan by 29 runs, the match was played in Mohali, India. Again a special knock of 85 by Sachin Tendulkar helped India to reach a total of 260, Pakistan was short of 29 runs. India lifted this World Cup for the second time, a gap of 28 years.
6th match was played in the 2015 World Cup, where India defeated Pakistan by 76 runs, the match was played in Adelaide, Australia. India scored a good total of 300, thanks to Virat Kohli’s maiden World Cup century. In reply, Pakistan was bowled out for 224.
7th match was played in the 2019 World Cup, where India defeated Pakistan by 47 runs (DLS method), the match was played in Manchester, England. India scored a mammoth total of 336, thanks to Rohit Sharma’s century of 140. In reply, Pakistan only managed to score 212 in 40 overs.
Now it was the 8th time India was facing Pakistan in the Cricket ODI World Cup. Both teams were in great form as both teams have won their previous 2 matches very comfortably. But, India had the upper hand as a couple of weeks back India defeated Pakistan in the Asia Cup by a huge margin, therefore the wounds are very fresh.
Experts and Cricket commentators also stated that India has a higher chance of Winning the match considering the previous record against Pakistan in the World Cup.
All eyes were on India’s strong batting lineup and Pakistan’s Bowling attack. Good news for India was, there are chances that Shubman Gill will be playing the match against Pakistan on 14 October 2023. But it was a Rohit Sharma show, along with Rohit all bowlers did their job.
